"Where Innovation Meets Action"

We are a team of passionate Northeastern University students driven to make synthetic biology research more accessible. Founded in 2023, we brought together innovators and problem-solvers,  to design, build, and test projects using cutting-edge research. As we grow, we welcome dedicated students to join us in creating real-world impact and shaping the future of synthetic biology.

35 students,
with 1 vision

Our team consists of 35 dedicated students from diverse academic backgrounds, united by a passion for synthetic biology. We are organized into three core teams, Wet Lab, Software, Hardware, working collaboratively to design and develop innovative solutions. Supporting these teams are our Human Practices, Finance and Marketing teams, which ensure the outreach and sustainability of our projects.

The Wet Lab team is responsible for the experimental, research-driven side of the project. This team designs and conducts biological experiments, working with lab techniques and protocols to generate crucial data. Their research lays the foundation for the entire project, providing essential insights that other sub-teams rely on.

The Software team is focused on developing and implementing software solutions that support the project’s progress. This team works on everything from modeling and data analysis to building user interfaces. A key part of their work includes coding the team’s wiki page, which is a major deliverable for the Grand Jamboree. The team also prepare detailed documentation and visualizations for presentations and the project wiki.

The Hardware team focuses on designing, developing, and prototyping tools that support the Wet Lab’s research. This could include building custom lab equipment, optimizing experimental setups, or integrating technology to improve data collection. Their work bridges the gap between biology and engineering, ensuring the lab has the necessary tools to carry out experiments efficiently.

The Human Practices team requires a time commitment during the spring semester. In this team, members connect with the community to understand how the project can address societal needs, collaborate with experts and organizations, and lead outreach initiatives to highlight the project’s impact.

The Finance team manages the budget, ensures funds are allocated efficiently, and seeks out grants, sponsorships, and other funding opportunities. This team also tracks application deadlines, maintains accurate financial records, and ensures compliance with university policies and iGEM requirements.

The Marketing team manages the club's Instagram, website, LinkedIn, and merchandise while working closely with the digital designer to develop and refine the brand image. This team also collaborates with the Finance team on internal and external business and marketing campaigns.
